Cia³o w kamieniu

Ale ju¿ kolejnego roku te ¶lady znika³y, wiatr i deszcz goi³y rany, zmienia³y powierzchniê i strukturê kamieni.

To wszystko znaczy, ¿e te fotografie s± zapisem konkretnego momentu w historii tego miejsca i w historii ka¿dego kamienia. Te ska³y ¿yj± w innym tempie ni¿ my, ale równie¿ siê zmieniaj±.

Chcia³em, ¿eby te fotografie ukaza³y pewien rodzaj zale¿no¶ci pomiêdzy cia³em a kamieniem; podobieñstwa i ró¿nice, miêkko¶æ i twardo¶æ, ciep³o i ch³ód, ostro¶æ kszta³tów i kr±g³o¶ci, witalno¶æ i wieczn± nieruchomo¶æ.

Zdjêcia zdoby³y wiele nagród i wyró¿nieñ:

 Body in stone

The idea for this series came during one of the evening walks in Adr¹pach Rocks. I was admiring unusual shapes and the structure of the rocks when I realized something. The very rocks are a great inspiration for photography, but what if I add a new context to it? A new element, which would both perfectly match a rock and contrast it.

At the beginning, when I started taking these pictures, I thought a human is that changing and living element, while a rock is steady, stiff, cold and unchangeable. But after looking at these rocks for several years I thought this was a rather simplified point of view. The same rocks I photographed one year before had the traces of human touch the following year. Names, hearts etc. carved in the soft sandstone. But the following year the traces were gone; wind and rain healed these wounds, changed the surface and the texture of the rocks.

It means the photographs I have taken are also a record of a certain moment in the history of this place and every rock . These rocks live a different life from ours, but like us they change in time. Their structure and shapes change just as our skin and shape change with time.

I wanted these photographs to show a kind of connection between body and stone; similarities and contrasts; softness and hardness; warmth and cold; sharpness and roundness; vitality and eternal stillness. The both penetrate each other, separate, create relations which can be interpret on different levels: as a reference to a human-human, human-nature or human-space relationship.

The photographs were taken in Ard¹pach-Teplice Rocks and nearby Osta¹. They were all developed in a traditional analogue way. Copies are hand made on Baryta paper.

The series  or part of it was shown on exhibitions in poland, Czech Republic, Greece and Italy. The photos gained a lot of prices.
